Long live the crane kick
Matthew 13:31–32 (NLT): Here is another illustration Jesus used: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. 32 It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants; it grows into a tree, and birds come and make nests in its branches.”
Everyone loves a good underdog story. Frodo Baggins, Aladdin, The Karate Kid, and Rocky are a few of my favs. I love their stories because when you look at Frodo, just an insignificant Hobbit from nowhere, or Rocky, a beat up boxer far past his “prime”, you think no way that guy’s going to change the world. But, they did. And, they still do.
People have always thought the same thing about Gods kingdom: no way this tribe of bullheaded nomads, or this cult of resurrection believing crazy nobodies would ever endure and change the world, but they did, and they still do. Jesus is the best of the best at doing impossible things with insignificant ingredients. Jesus can make trees out of cute little seeds and can feed masses from a little boys lunch. Jesus can use even you and me to change the world.
Maybe you feel more like a cute little seed or a half eaten lunch most of the time. Well, you’re in good company. All the greatest people in Gods stories felt just like you. Let Him grow you, and the dreams He has given you, in His way, by His voice. Who knows, he may just use you to crane kick the devil in the face or carry someone’s burden up a fiery mountain with them. He has incredible stories waiting for you, believe Him, trust Him, and discover your underdog story!
